Is 100 citations a lot
A hundred citations is clearly “highly impactful” regardless of the year the paper was published. To get a better sense of papers that are above the baseline, we can take a look at the actual numbers.
What is considered high citation
Highly cited articles are papers that perform in the top one percent based on the number of citations received when compared to: 1) other papers published in the same field, and 2) other papers published in the same year.
Is 1,000 citations a lot
Some papers may receive only a few citations, while others may receive thousands or even tens of thousands. It is difficult to define a specific number of citations that constitutes a "lot" or is otherwise considered to be a good number, as this can vary depending on the context and the expectations for a given field.
Is 7 a good h-index
We found that, on average, assistant professors have an h-index of 2-5, associate professors 6-10, and full professors 12-24. These are mean or median values only—the distribution of values at each rank is very wide. If you hope to win a Nobel Prize, your h-index should be at least 35 and preferably closer to 70.

Among our chosen professor the top-cited publications have from 40 to 250 references each, but in most cases there are only one or a few such papers or books. The number of publications generally increases as we move into lower citation ranges, with the peak being in items with single or zero citations.
Is 100 references too much
Using too many references does not leave much room for your personal standpoint to shine through. As a general rule, you should aim to use one to three, to support each key point you make. This of course depends on subject matter and the point you are discussing, but acts as a good general guide.

There's no right or wrong answer answer as to how many references you need – it depends on how many you've cited in your writing! The most important thing is that you don't plagiarise. Make sure you include references for everything that you've cited in the text, so that it's clear where your information has come from.
Is 30 references too much
A typical journal article is 7–8K words; a review or survey article a bit longer at 10–12K words. Within that word limit, you'd normally aim for no more than 25–30 references for the paper (less than 2 A4 pages worth) and maybe up to 45–50 for the review article (a note or letter may have as few as 5–10).
