What are A level exams in England
Advanced level qualifications (known as A levels) are subject-based qualifications that can lead to university, further study, training, or work. You can normally study three or more A levels over two years.
What is a pass at A Level UK
You have passed if you get one of six grades, A*, A, B, C, D or E, – where A and A* is the highest grade and E is the lowest. A D and an E is a pass, but it will get fewer Ucas points. If a student does not pass, it will show on their results sheet as “Not Classified” or similar.

In order to obtain a passing grade from their GCSE English exam, students must achieve at least a Grade 4 or above. This typically requires around 40% – 50% on the paper and having completed all required questions correctly.

With all of that being said, it's unfortunately very rare to get into an Ivy League school with C's during your freshman year, or at any time during your high school career. Yes, there are exceptions but it's never a good idea to hinge your hopes on the very small chance that something might happen.

At Harvard GPA is Not Important Unless it is Very High or Very Low. As you can see, the acceptance rate between 3.0 and 3.79 is relatively flat. GPA only seems to have any impact if you are above 3.8 or below 3.0. The acceptance rate for Harvard is higher in the 3.0 to 3.39 range than 3.4 to 3.79.
Can I go to Harvard with bad grades
According to our research, the 25th percentile accepted unweighted GPA at Harvard is 3.80. If your GPA is much lower than this, you mostly likely don't have much a of a chance of admission regardless of the rest of your portfolio or the reasons behind the lower grades.
