The following definitions will be used as a guide for the assignment of All Courses grades. F – Failed, Unacceptable Level of Achievement. AB– Absent from Final Examination.

What is Z vs F grade
The grade Z (grade) is used to indicate both absence from the final examination and incomplete course requirements. The instructor calculates the parenthetical grade using an F (or zero score) for the final examination and either an F (or zero score) for incomplete coursework.

You'll usually need to receive a letter grade between A and D to pass a class, often the numerical equivalent of 65 percent or higher. Receiving an F—which stands for “fail”—indicates that you did not pass the class. The cutoff to receive an F is usually 64 percent.

Is 0 an F grade
A Failure is counted as 0 grade points per credit in computing the GPA. In effect since August of 1980, all courses receiving an A – F grade are used in the calculation of a GPA. This includes courses which are failed and repeated.

Is F+ the worst grade
F+ – The best failing grade you can get! D- – The worst passing grade you can get. Will colleges revoke admissions if senior grades fall from a "A" to a "B+" or even a "B"

What grade is a Z
The letter Z is used to indicate that a grade was not properly received and/or recorded for a course. Note: No grade points are allowed for grades F, I, NP, P, PR, NPR, W, or Z.

Z grades. A Z on your transcript indicates that the Professor never reported a grade for you. This most often happens in Independent Study or Honors courses when students hand in a paper late. If you see a Z on your record, contact the professor of the course immediately.

C – this is a grade that rests right in the middle. C is anywhere between 70% and 79% D – this is still a passing grade, and it's between 59% and 69% F – this is a failing grade.

What is a Y grade
The grade Y is given when a student unofficially withdraws from a course (usually stops attending class). It is reflected in the grade point average (GPA) as an F. If a course is repeated, then the grades in both courses will be included in the GPA calculation.
