Younger children have greater risks of injury and adverse effects than older users. While we know that children under 13 may want to use Meta VR Systems, we do not permit them to create accounts or use Meta VR Systems. Adults should monitor the time their teens 13+ spend using the headset.
Why is VR bad for kids under 13
However, there is concern that VR may impact eye development in children due to the near-sightedness that occurs when taking part. Near-sightedness or otherwise known as myopia is a condition where close objects appear clear but objects far away are blurry.
Why is VR not suitable for under 12
Young children on the other hand have values that span between 40-55mm. So for them, their perspective through the GearVR could be so erroneous that the perceived display will be very incorrect and can cause (short term) disorientation, discomfort, headaches, migraines, eye-strain or even nausea.

Generally speaking, most VR headsets are not designed for children under the age of 13, and there's a variety of reasons: a child's eyesight is still developing, VR can make even some adults feel motion sickness, and there's not enough research yet about the long-term effects for children.

Google, with its relatively new tech Google Cardboard, prescribes that kids must only use the VR headset under parental supervision.
